Frequently Asked Questions:

What learning goals can online Swedish tutors help with?

1-on-1 lessons are probably the best way to improve speaking skills, and for this reason many students use Lingoci to learn to speak Swedish fluently. But if you have other, more specific goals, the Swedish teacher you choose will aim to tailor the lessons to your needs. Most of the tutors can help with all of the following:

  • Swedish for work
  • Grammar (at all levels)
  • Practical Swedish for travelling and integration.
  • Preparation for exams.
  • Reading, listening & writing

Whatever your background and motivation, consider signing up for a trial session to see how it feels to learn with a Swedish teacher online.

Can you tell me more about the lessons?

You’ll learn 1-on-1 with a dedicated Swedish tutor. This enables you to get a lot more speaking practice in compared to group lessons. Each lesson lasts 55 minutes and is taught via video call (Skype or Zoom, depending on your preferences), allowing you to communicate with your tutor & share learning materials just as if you were in the same room.

As well as Skype/Zoom, the Swedish teachers often use other technologies and resources to enhance the learning experience, such as Google Docs (for real-time collaboration), videos, and PowerPoint.

During your trial session, your Swedish tutor will assess your level and discuss your goals with you. Then if you decide to take lessons, they’ll tailor them to your needs.

Can you tell me more about your online Swedish teachers?

Unlike other platforms, we only accept about 10% of the applications we receive. Whilst we consider qualifications and experience, we place equal value on communication skills and reviews from students. Other requirements are that the teachers are native speakers who can also speak English. Contrast this to other sites, which often allow anyone to teach, even folks with no experience at all!

We believe our rigorous recruitment process is the main reason why our site has an average rating of 4.8 stars on an independent review site. Whichever online Swedish teacher you pick, you can be assured that they know what they’re doing.

Of course, each teacher is different and there may be one or two that you click with better than others. So we recommend you check out the videos of each Swedish teacher and book a 30 minute trial session with the one you like the most!

When can I take lessons?

You can learn at a pace that fits your schedule and goals – it’s totally up to you when and how often you take lessons. When you book your trial session, just make sure that the Swedish tutor you pick has available times that fit your schedule. Some have lots of students!

How fast can I learn Swedish?

Learning a language is a complex process. There are numerous factors that will impact how fast you can learn Swedish, including:

  1. Languages you already know
  2. Intensity of study
  3. Your motivation
  4. Your level of experience learning other languages
  5. Your ability to learn and memorise
  6. How you’re learning

Depending on all of the above factors, it could take anywhere between six months and five years to go from beginner to fluent! If you stay committed to practicing regularly, you’ll generally make fast progress.
